The short version
The numbers you type into a calculator never leave your browser. There is no server to send them to. Every calculation runs on your own device, and nothing you enter is transmitted, logged or stored anywhere — not by us, and not by anyone else.
This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics. The tracking that does happen comes from our advertising provider and our web host, and is described below.
Who we are
Plain Finance publishes free personal-finance calculators at https://plainfinance.vercel.app/. The site is published by Luas Goods, which is the party responsible for it and the data controller for the limited processing described below.

This policy covers this website only. It does not cover any other site you might reach from a link here.
What you type into the calculators
Nothing. This is the important part, so it is worth being precise about how it works.
The calculators are ordinary JavaScript running inside your browser. When you enter a loan balance, an interest rate or an extra payment, those values are used to compute a result on your own device and are then discarded when you close the tab. They are not sent over the network, because there is no back end to send them to — this site is static files only. You can confirm this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use the calculator. You will see no requests.
The site stores nothing in cookies, localStorage or any other browser storage, so
your figures are not retained between visits either.
Server logs
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel automatically records technical information about requests in order to serve pages and protect against abuse. That typically includes your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, your browser's user-agent string, and the referring page.
We do not use these logs to build profiles of visitors, and we do not combine them with anything else. See Vercel's privacy policy for how they handle the data they process on our behalf.
Advertising
This site is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertising is the reason the calculators can be free and require no sign-up.
Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Some specifics you are entitled to know:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- These cookies are set by Google, not by us. We do not have access to them and cannot read them.
You can control or switch off personalised advertising at any time:
- Opt out of personalised ads from Google at My Ad Center.
- Opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info or the NAI opt-out page.

Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before any advertising cookies are set, through a consent notice that appears on your first visit. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the link in the site footer.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the calculators. They work identically either way, because they never depended on cookies in the first place.
Analytics
This site currently runs no analytics — no Google Analytics, no third-party measurement scripts. If that changes, this page will be updated before the change goes live.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data held about you, to object to processing, or to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined in California law.
In practice we hold very little that could identify you: we operate no accounts, no mailing list, and no database. Most requests will concern data held by Google as the advertising provider or Vercel as the host, and their own privacy tools are the fastest route. If you want to make a request of us directly, email luasgoods@gmail.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.
Children
This site is intended for adults making decisions about their own finances. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Links to other sites
Where we link to a lender, a regulator or another publisher, that site has its own privacy policy and we are not responsible for its contents or its practices.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes — anything that alters what is collected or who receives it — will be accompanied by a notice on the site.
