Understanding FIRE
Financial Independence means having enough invested wealth that the returns can cover your living expenses indefinitely. The most common approach uses the safe withdrawal rateconcept: if you can live on 4% of your portfolio each year, you need 25x your annual expenses saved.
For example, if you spend $40,000 per year, your FIRE target would be $1,000,000. This calculator helps you estimate when you might reach that target based on your current savings, contribution rate, and expected investment returns.
